Birth Chart Rectification
The type of astrology that most astrologers (Jyotisha – in Sanskrit) practice, horoscopic astrology, requires an exact birth time in order to work properly. That is to say, you need the time of a person’s birth in order to cast a complete natal chart that includes all of the factors that an astrologer would normally take into account in a typical delineation (from Astro blog).
While it is still possible to do some interesting things with just a person’s date of birth, even if you don’t have a birth time, in most cases it is highly desirable to have at least an approximate time of birth before attempting to interpret a birth chart (better +/- 15 minutes, but no more than +/- 1 hour in Vedic Astrology/Jyotish). The Western Astrology has different approach.
If you don’t have this information from your parents or from the birth certification – this is a “lost horoscope” situation. It’s possible to find the natives “lost horoscope” as well, but this is a special case, which requires a lot of efforts from both astrologer and the native.
To rectify the native’s horoscope correctly, you should give date/ month/ year of minimum 7 events after birth (better more). The following examples can be used:
- Date(s) of marriage(s) _____________
- Date(s) of divorce(s) _____________
- Date(s) of travel(s) _____________
- Date(s) of big loss or big gain(s) _____________
- Date(s) of any accident(s) _____________
- Date(s) of death of parents(s) _____________
- Date(s) of children birth(s) _____________
- Date(s) of post secondary ed.(s) _____________
- Date(s) of your job(s) _____________
